About Us
Sandy Crichard
Family Mediator
Founding Director of Aequitas Mediation UK Ltd
Before training as a Family Mediator, Sandy was a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. She worked with children and young people (and their parents) aged four to young adults.
Her experience is particularly useful when considering how decisions made in mediation can impact the whole family.

Sandy can mediate with you alone or will sometimes work with a co-mediator.
We have a network of family mediators who can work with you. Including family mediators with a law background, both family solicitors and family barristers. We also have specialist Child Inclusive Mediators available who can hear from your children, if you consent.
Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting
(MIAM)
The Mediation Information & Assessment Meeting (MIAM) is an individual meeting between you and the mediator.
It will last up to an hour, and will give you an opportunity to tell the mediator about your situation and the issues that need to be decided.
The mediator will tell you about the mediation process and other options for reaching agreements.

We can provide a Mediation Certificate/C100 if required after this meeting.

MIAMs can take place on-line or in-person.
Mediation Sessions
Family mediation is a process in which an independent, professionally trained mediator helps you work out arrangements for children and finances following separation.
Mediation can also be helpful when arrangements you’ve made before need to change, particularly as your children grow up.

Mediation helps you stay in control.

The mediator will help you find a solution which works for you both and will explain what needs to happen to make an agreement between you legally binding (if you so wish).

FMC Registered Mediators have helped hundreds of thousands of families to agree on financial arrangements after separation, and to find a way to parent their children
co-operatively after separation.

The process is less stressful and significantly quicker than going to court, and can save you money.
You do not have to be in the same space as your former partner if you or the mediator decides that working with you in separate spaces would be preferable.

Mediation sessions can take place on-line or in-person.

Child Inclusive Mediation
(CIM)
Child Inclusive Mediation (CIM) is a process that allows children to be heard when their parents are discussing issues that affect them, such as during a divorce or separation.

In CIM, a trained mediator meets with your child to help them express their feelings and wishes. The goal is to make sure the child's voice is heard and respected, not to make them make choices.
The mediator can also provide feedback to the parents about what the child is saying, which can help them make decisions that consider their child's best interests.
CIM is voluntary, and both parents and the child must agree to meet with the mediator. It's recommended that children over the age of 10 be offered the opportunity to participate.
CIM can help children feel heard and valued, and it can also be beneficial for their mental health. It can help parents better understand their children's perspectives, which can lead to more informed decisions.

Child Inclusive Mediation sessions can take
place on-line or in-person.

Our family mediation service is designed to help families and former couples reach mutually acceptable solutions on various issues, including child arrangements and property and finance matters.

However, where mediation isn't appropriate or mediation breaks down, we can sign court forms C100 and Form A where required.

In addition to the mediation sessions your mediator will produce professional mediation documents.
After each session you will receive a Post Mediation Statement, summarising what was discussed.
Your mediator may also produce
Parenting Plans, Open Financial Statements and a
Memorandum of Understanding, which may be used by your legal representatives to obtain a Consent Order.
